TSE, APEX and CXE series extruders are configured for continuous production of mastics, pressure-sensitive adhesives and reactive RTV sealants with L/D >> 60 and a wide variety of downstream feeding options to accommodate multiple liquid and solid ingredients. The specific machine series for each application is determined by the finished adhesive compound viscosity (specific energy requirement).

DIRECT EXTRUSION

Together with CPM sister company Beta Raven, CPM Extrusion Group has developed full systems capability for direct extrusion of sheet/film/fiber integrating the upstream twin-screw extruder and associated feeding equipment together with a melt pump and downstream web handling. TSE, APEX and CXE extruders are producing, for example, PE fiber, microporous film for battery separator and PET sheet (from recycled PET).

SPECIALTY APPLICATIONS

Industries other than plastics leverage CPM Extrusion Group’s vast experience in custom designing twin-screw extrusion machinery and expertise in metallurgy for extreme wear and corrosion resistance. These extruders have been supplied for production of ceramic catalyst carrier, biomass fractionation and other processes within the fine chemicals industry.

All Century and Ruiya twin-screw extrusion systems for color and additive masterbatch applications are designed for premix or split-feed (downstream using side feeders) with quick-change features facilitating rapid changeovers. Extruders developed for highly filled CaCO3 compounds (>75% loading) have been delivered with both underwater and water-ring pelletizing systems.

Extruders developed for highly filled CaCO3 compounds (>75% loading) have been delivered with both underwater and water-ring pelletizing systems.

CXE, APEX and TSE series extruders are deployed in the production of TPU and TPV, MAH grafting and peroxide cross-linking processes. Multiple machines are combined together (e.g. one extruder feeding directly into second extruder) for extended residence time with multiple vacuum devolatilization stages for removal of solvents or reaction by-products.

Reactive Extrusion

CXE, APEX and TSE series extruders are deployed in the production of TPU and TPV, MAH grafting and peroxide cross-linking processes. Multiple machines are combined together (e.g. one extruder feeding directly into second extruder) for extended residence time with multiple vacuum devolatilization stages for removal of solvents or reaction by-products.

The TSC series tandem extrusion system is designed for PVC (plasticized and rigid), XLPE, HFFR and other heat/shear-sensitive compounds. These systems close-couple the TSE or RXT series twin-screw extruder with a single-screw melt pump for pelletizing or direct sheet/profile extrusion. The larger-diameter single screw extruder operates at low speed to minimize melt temperature.
